IPTV on Android TV, Google TV, boxes and phones
Android is the most flexible home for Boss IPTV. Almost every player app runs on it, setup goes through Google Play, and the same login works on your TV, your phone and your tablet.

Which Android?
Three kinds of Android device, one setup
The steps are nearly identical. The differences are in remotes, screens and connections.
Google TV and Android TV
Built into many Sony, TCL, Philips and Hisense TVs, and into streamers that run Google TV.
Android TV boxes
Set-top boxes running Android. Choose one with an Ethernet port and enough memory for large channel lists.
Phones and tablets
Perfect for the kitchen, the yard or the commute. Stick to Wi-Fi where you can: live TV uses a lot of data.

Tuning
Five settings for smoother playback
Android gives you more control than most platforms. These are the settings worth knowing.
- Hardware decoding. In the player settings, hardware decoding is usually smoother; switch to software only if you see glitches.
- Match frame rate. On Google TV, look for "Match content frame rate" in the display settings to reduce judder in sport and film.
- Free storage. Remove apps you do not use; low storage slows everything down.
- Clear the cache, not the data. Clearing the player's cache fixes many oddities without signing you out.
- Keep the player updated. Updates often improve stability and fix playback bugs.
Installing APKs
Installing apps from outside Google Play, safely
Some Android boxes do not have Google Play, and some players are distributed directly by their developers as an APK file. That is fine, as long as you are careful about where the file comes from.
- Only install APKs from the app's developer or a source we confirm for you.
- Android asks you to allow "install unknown apps" for one app at a time; allow only the app you are using to install.
- Avoid "modded" or repackaged versions of paid apps; they are a common source of malware.
- Switch the permission off again once the player is installed.
Android questions
Questions about Android
A steady 10 Mbps HD stream works out at roughly 4.5 GB per hour. Use Wi-Fi when you can, or lower the quality in the player if it offers a choice.
Some players support casting, but a player app installed on the TV or a streaming stick is more reliable for long viewing.
The cheapest boxes often have too little memory for large channel lists and become slow. A mid-range box or a well-known streamer is a better long-term choice.
